1956 Oldsmobile 88 B.A.T. (Berlinetta Aerodinamica Tecnica) by Bertone of Turin, Italy
Remember in the mid-1950’s, Harley Earl and Bill Mitchell both went to Italy several times to visit the Turin Auto Show. Inspiration for the 1963 Corvette rear window (and split feature) as well at the 1971 “boattail” Riviera later.
What if GM had shipped an Oldsmobile 88 to Bertone in Turin, Italy and had Franco Scaglione apply some of his magic? And instead of sizing it as a full-size car — sized it about 110% bigger than the 1956 Corvette.
Yup — my imagination is on overdrive. This is another example of digital restyling and design by ModenaWest
