1955 Lincoln Constellation
The idea for this was “what would the Lincoln Division (Ford Motor Company) have built as an upscale alternative of the 2-seat Ford Thunderbird”?
My concept was inspired by the “Indianapolis” concept created by Carrozzeria Boano of Torino, Italy that was built on a full-size Lincoln chassis for the Turin Auto Show in 1955. Thus I started with the wheelbase (extended 4 inches), overhang, cockpit location and more of the small T’bird and applied the aircraft inspired coachwork of the Indianapolis in a form that I’d personally want.
The name Constellation? Given the aircraft motif and future forwardness and the most memorable aircraft of the era was the Lockheed Constellation. This is another example of digital restyling and design by ModenaWest
