1959 VW Karmann Ghia Phaeton

1959 VW Karmann Ghia Phaeton

This concept originated while walking through the Saturday night Pavillion’s car show in Scottsdale and seeing a Lincoln Continental (w/suicide rear doors) parked next to a Karmann Ghia. The biggest issue with modifying a Ghia is given all the compound curves in the sheet metal. The best area to do so would be between mid-door and before the rear fender and thus my idea of converting it to a 4-door Phaeton. The windows? I kept it simple but it would need a proper seal between the front/rear windows for anywhere outside of SoCal or Arizona. Wheels are modern Porsche 911 Carrera and probably would have to be narrowed to work. All accessory trim is stock — but the SoCal, CalLook, RestoMod and other styles would apply. Factory wheelbase is 2400mm and this is now 2700mm.
