1961 Jaguar XKE Fixed Head Coupe

The very few dozen of the Jaguar XKE coupes differ from the regular production ones to come later. No clue if they were originally roadsters that had coupe roofs and windows added to them — or what? Many details differ ala tail lights, the roof profile is flatter and lots of other subtle differences. Beautiful cars and they don’t necessarily all have to be painted silver or red to be gorgeous.

Why did Enzo Ferrari call his competitor the Jaguar E-Type “The most beautiful car ever made?” Was it the aerodynamics, developed in an early wind tunnel, or was it the curvaceous design, yet still masculine enough to warrant the brawn of its silky smooth straight six cylinder engine? Or was it the fact that this car was, for many, the peak of styling refinement in a vehicle that could easily be at home in a suburban driveway or Le Mans circuit? Finally, could it have been that this car had the bravado to be driven to the limit by mad men and women alike, choosing a car that said to the world “I have arrived.” It would take a lot for Enzo Ferrari to call a car that he did not design, beautiful. However, looking at a masterpiece that is the Jaguar E-type it isn’t hard to believe his opinion because Enzo spoke the truth about this beauty and that says a lot.

Digital Restyling: A few cosmetic tweaks and the modern wheels are from a 2019 Jaguar I-PACE but with low profile tires added.
